Eline van Tijn

It greatly inspires me to see how people in mediation find the strength again to resolve their conflict themselves.”

Conflict is normal. Actually, also inevitable. But resolving conflict is not always easy. And deadlocked conflict eats up energy. As a mediator, I make things bright and clear and thus a little lighter. In general, I like to inspire people to have a positive outlook on life.

Background

Eline van Tijn began her career as a lawyer at Höcker Advocaten in Amsterdam. This was followed by 30 years of successful entrepreneurship in her family business in the entertainment industry. As a commercial director and DGA, her knowledge of (corporate and labor) law came in handy. In the process, Eline has guided and directed many creative collaborations. Since 2012, Eline has been active as an MfN registered mediator; she is affiliated with the Platform Business Mediation and included in the Register of FB (family business) mediators.

Experience

Since 2012, I have had the opportunity to supervise many business and labor mediations, both in Dutch and English. Frequently, this was on referral from the mediation offices of the District Court, Court of Appeal or the Enterprise Chamber in Amsterdam.|

Examples of business mediations:

  • restore harmony and cooperation after years of brouille and thence guide transfer to next generation in a family business;
  • negotiations to achieve final discharge between acquisition partners from various protracted legal proceedings;
  • disagreement between members and the board of a large CoE;
  • assistance in resolving hassles between the partners of an international recruitment marketing agency;
  • trategic conflict between financiers/co-shareholders and founders/directors of a start-up;
  • dispute between a municipality and an institution subsidized by the municipality;
  • Mediation between composer and theater producer over copyright income.

Examples of employment mediations:

  • work-related absenteeism with underlying conflict (multiple mediations on referral from company doctor, at different companies, healthcare organizations, or a family business);
  • team trajectory, restoration of cooperation after long-running conflict in a team in a (semi-)governmental organization;
  • restore cooperation after transgressive behavior between supervisor and employee.
  • severance arrangement based on a settlement agreement (multiple mediations, including at a law firm and at a child care center);
  • conflict over dysfunction (or not) between director and DGA of a company in the IT sector.
